Dear PhishDestroy Team,
This is NiceNIC, an ICANN-accredited domain registrar. We genuinely value the work that PhishDestroy does in fighting cybercrime and phishing.
Recently, we noticed your comments regarding the cyberattack on your website and the mention of some domains registered with our Registrar. I would like to take this opportunity to clarify our position and address any misunderstandings.
1. We would like to clarify that NiceNIC was not involved in any cyberattack. Regarding the domains mentioned in your github, after a thorough internal review by our abuse team, the domains have been placed on clientHold in accordance with our established abuse handling procedures and ICANN compliance standards.
2. We want to clarify the 96% domain takedown rate you referenced in your recent post. The 96% represents the domains that were flagged and suspended by NiceNIC following NetBeacon's December 2025 abuse report. We take these matters very seriously and work in full compliance with ICANN's policies to ensure that domains are handled appropriately.
Regarding the remaining 4% of domains, the reasons for not suspending them immediately typically fall into one of the following categories:
- Incomplete Evidence: In some cases, the abuse reports submitted might lack sufficient evidence, which makes it difficult to justify a suspension.
- Registrant Dispute: Occasionally, registrants may dispute the accusations or provide counter-evidence, which necessitates further investigation before making a final decision.
3. We believe that by working together, we can contribute to a more secure internet ecosystem. While NiceNIC, as a domain registrar, does not control the hosting or nameservers for the majority of the domains registered with NiceNIC, we take our responsibility seriously in responding to abuse reports, suspending domains when necessary, and collaborating with trusted security partners to mitigate potential harm.
If you have any questions or would like to discuss this further, please feel free to reach out. We are happy to continue this conversation via email and are committed to resolving any misunderstandings in a professional and constructive manner. Our goal is to collaborate effectively to ensure a safer online environment for all, and we look forward to establishing a productive, solution-oriented relationship moving forward. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Kind regards,
NiceNIC Team
