NiceNIC has recently become aware of public allegations claiming that we ignore abuse reports related to domain names under our management.
We categorically reject these claims and would like to take this opportunity to clarify the facts.
1. Domain clientHold
The domain names cited in the accusations fall into one of the following categories:
- The domain names were placed on clientHold in accordance with our abuse handling procedures.

- 2. Domain Transferred Out
- The domain names had already been transferred out to another registrar before the accusations were made public.
-

In several instances, the domains were no longer under NiceNIC Registrar when they were cited in the allegations. It is therefore inaccurate and misleading to suggest that NiceNIC "ignored" reports relating to those domains.
3. No Complaint Records
We have thoroughly reviewed our abuse report logs and found no records of complaints or abuse reports related to the specific domains referenced in the accusations. This further underscores that we acted in accordance with proper procedures at the time of the alleged incidents.
Our Role as a Domain Registrar
It is important to distinguish between domain registration services and website hosting services. NiceNIC is solely a domain registrar and does not operate as the DNS resolver or web hosting provider for the websites associated with the domains we manage.
-
Domain Registration: The domain registrar provides domain registration and management services
Website Hosting: The hosting provider manages website content, applications, and server infrastructure
Our Position
The public allegations that fail to acknowledge the status of the domains, their transfer records, or the lack of formal complaints, do not represent the full picture. NiceNIC adheres to the ICANN RAA, and our actions are always based on clear, verifiable evidence of abuse. We encourage responsible reporting based on verified registry data, rather than assumptions or incomplete information.
NiceNIC remains committed to:
- Taking action on valid abuse reports in accordance with ICANN's policies and guidelines.
- Established key collaborations with top security organizations like Netcraft and NetBeacon
- Protecting the stability of the domain registration system and maintaining trust within the community
We remain open to constructive discussions based on facts and evidence.
